Srila Prabhuapada’s Vyasa Puja 2009.

Vande Sri Gurudevam Tam karuna varunalayam,

yat krpa tava lesena pamaro ‘pi amarayate.

“I offer my respectful obeisances Unto My spiritual master, who is astonishingly merciful, who, simply by a small fraction of who’s mercy is sufficient to give one liberation.” (source unknown).

Sri Krsna, who Jayanti “the day that bestows the ultimate victory” we celebrate every year with increasing pomp, is reknowned In His Bhagavad Gita 5.29 as “suhridam sarva bhutanam” I.e. the friend of the poor.

All of His eternal associates who spread the glories of His service, of the relishable sort in Vrndavana, that they daily sport in, are also friends of poor conditioned souls like us. Kamaleksana Srila Prabhupada, Your appearance day, therefore, is especially for us, “the day that bestows the ultimate victory”.

It is most fitting therefore, that on this day we offer a token of our small homage to Our most merciful shelter Srila Prabhupada, who picked us up from the gutter of material existence, by the kindness of his many followers, and who to this day, continue to protect our fledgling oft haltingly growing creeper of Bhakti lata, That He lovingly bestowed unto us, by initiation, and with his comforting words and magnanimous actions.

This Bhakti lata, scorched as it is by the very strong heat of material life, whose very sustainance is threatened by all sorts of burnt remnants of our unwanted habits from uncountable lives in this world, is sustained by the water of His and his representatives, His devotees, combined mercy.

He alone, situated eternally, in his wonderful service in Sri Krsna Balarama’s divine pastimes, offers all of us, His followers chafing in this world in His separation, the chance to offer daily our insignificant offerings to the absolute truth. Sri Krsna the topmost Cowherd Boy who, accompanied by the legions of His divine Friends, headed by His dearmost Brother Sri Balarama, sport in happiness, without a single care in this world, will accept our increasingly irrelevant, and most insignificant offerings and offer them to that best of groups of Vrndavana’s cowherd boys.

Although, whatever we offer to Him is, materially speaking, increasingly irrelevant, and a most insignificant offering, He says, “Oh my dear Friend Krsna, one of my servants, has offered you this, You should have it”. (Most similar to what Srila Sanatana gosvami refers in His Brihad Bhagavatamrta).

That daily insignificant offering, blest by the presence of His priya Patri Tulasirani, and further blest by being carried by the hand of that Kamalekshana, lotus eyed cowherd boy, our guru rupa sakha.

Sri Krsna, will then magnify and say, “really, it is so!” and Then He’ll most graciously agree to accept that Tulasi laden offering.

Your followers are empowered for the last 44 short years, through your wonderful teachings and personal manifestations both in this world and in the aprakata divine world you continue to reach out to all of us.

The only way now to maintain this contact is through ever increasing commitment by us and ours, to your instructions and examples to “live and do as I do”, in the spirit of Caitanya Caritamrta sanatana siksa, Madhya Lila chapter 25. 156-157

CC Madhya 22.156-157: "There are two processes by which one may execute this rāgānugā bhakti — external and internal. When self-realized, the advanced devotee externally remains like a neophyte and executes all the śāstric injunctions, especially those concerning hearing and chanting. But within his mind, in his original, purified, self-realized position, he serves Kṛṣṇa in Vndāvana in his particular way. He serves Kṛṣṇa twenty-four hours a day, all day and night.”

Thus in these two ways, both in the external body, You showed us how to “live and do as I do” and you are inviting us to rejoin you, for an eternal life, in a spiritual body, to continue to “live and do as I do” in the transcendental realm of Sri Vrndavana dhama.

We who remain shackled to this material body and miserable world, are most fallen, we can’t even come up to the quality of the urine of our fore-

Fathers, how will we be able to hear and chant up to the qualification needed to attain our spiritual body?

Not by any of our stumbling small efforts (although we continue to apply the eternal treasure {sat-dhana i.e. sadhana} of your teachings) Only by your compassionate mercy, Oh Kamaleksana, Lotus eyed cowherd boy, will you and all your friends continue to enliven us to Keep the Holy names on our tongue. Everything is stolen at the time of death in this world.

You have revealed to us Srila Bhaktivinode’s Sri Nama Mahimamrtam at the end of Saranagati.

“Nija siddha deha diya krsna pase raksa kiya, ei dehera sarva karo nasa”

Those holy names of Krsna, protect us, transport us close to Krsna, and will destroy this very body of Ours.

On this holy day of your appearance, we fall at your lotus feet and pray to you for any mercy whenever you are most pleased to bestow on lowly us..

We will rededicate ourselves perpetually, and daily, both in our sadhaka deha, (material body) and whatever body in service to you and all the other residents of vraja, in the holy service of Sri Sri Krsna Balarama’s nitya lila, inspire Sri Sri Krsna Balarama to give us.

we hope to attain the future in your company again.. to the chanting of the divine holy names of the mahamantra

let us pray as you hankered in your Bengali poetry.

“tomara milane Bhai abar se sukha pai gocarane gure din bhor, koto bane chutachuti bane khai lutaputi sei din kabe habe mor”

“Oh my dear brother, (Krsna Balarama) when we will experience wonderful happiness in all of your divine company, assisting in the divine cowherd pastures. In how many forests will we roll on ground, laughing so hard at all the joking words You and the cowherd boys expertly craft?

When, oh when, will that day ever by mine”. We are suffering now in your separation here rotting in this lowly world, bereft of your physical association. Oh Kamaleksana! Lotus eyed cowherd boy, please maintain your fallen servant’s spiritual and material life! How can we live without you? Empower us to serve to “Do as I do” Lest we leave in pain!!
